All About Homemade Doritos!

Whenever we are watching our favorite films or just chatting in groups, it is always fun if there is something to munch. Somehow, it could be chocolate bars, cupcakes, cake pops, and the like.  But the most popular is chips, especially Doritos. 

However, what if it is late night and you run out of chips? Be prepared with this recipe that we have. Make your own homemade Doritos. You will only need a few ingredients and just do the frying and tossing, and it is done!

Furthermore, the taste of these Doritos is not far from the ones you purchase commercially. Taste is not compromised as you can always add a generous amount of seasonings since they are homemade. Indeed, an advantage.

Equipment To Use: 

Basically, there are only three tools to prepare to complete the snack or appetizer recipe. These are: 

  • Frying pan. The tool for frying the Doritos. 
  • Paper towels. This is for drying the fried or air-fried Doritos. 
  • Knife. Used to cut the tortillas into small triangles to look like Dorito chips. 

Ingredients To Prepare:

For the ingredients, there are only 7 main ingredients to prepare, and these are:

  • Corn or flour tortillas. Use ½ pack or 15 pieces of tortillas. 
  • Ranch seasoning. Prepare 2 tablespoons. 
  • Smoked paprika. Set 1 tablespoon. 
  • Garlic powder and Granulated Sugar. Prepare 1 teaspoon of each.
  • Onion powder and Salt. Use 1 teaspoon for each.

Stovetop Guide for Homemade Doritos 

There are actually two ways to make this homemade Doritos. First is the use of the stovetop. To do it, just combine seasonings into bowl and slice the tortillas into 6 to 8 equal slices. After that, heat the oil to 350F and fry on both sides for a total of 3 to 4 minutes. Once cooked, remove and drain on paper towels. Ultimately, toss in seasonings. Repeat the process to make more or the desired amount of Doritos.

Air Fryer Guide for Homemade Doritos

The other way to make the Doritos and that is the use of Air Fryer. First, slice your tortillas into 6 or 8 equal pieces. Then, lightly spray with cooking spray and sprinkle with seasoning mix. After that, place in air fryer basket, do not overlap them.  Cook for 3 minutes at 350 and flip and cook for 2 more minutes. Lastly, remove and let dry. 

Chef’s Notes: 

If doing large batches add seasoning to zip lock bag and shake after frying. Also, if air frying be sure to spray with a little olive oil, toss in seasonings and then air fry for the most flavor.

Viral House Made Doritos

Time:
Prep: 5 min

Total: 15 mins
Yield: 4-6 servings (based off a snack size bag of doritos)

Equipment

  • Frying Pan
  • Paper towels
  • Knife

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 pack 15 pieces corn or flour tortillas
  • 2 tbsp ranch seasoning
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions
 

  • Stovetop Instructions:
  • Combine seasonings into bowl
  • Slice the tortillas into 6-8 equal
  • Heat the oil to 350F
  • Fry on both sides for a total of 3-4 mins
  • Remove and drain on paper towels
  • Toss in seasonings
  • Repeat
