• Medium-sized bowl
• Glass measuring cup

• Butter for frying
How to Make Eggnog French Toast
Step 1: Mix the Batter
Add the eggs, eggnog, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla to a medium bowl. Whisk until everything is smooth and combined.
👩👧👦 Parent Tip:
Kids ages 6–8 can crack eggs with guidance. Set up a small “shell-check” bowl to build confidence.

Step 2: Heat the Pan
Add a little butter to your skillet and turn the heat to medium-low. Give it a minute to melt and coat the surface.
Step 3: Dip the Bread
Dip each slice of Texas toast into the eggnog mixture, coating both sides. Let the extra drip off.

👩👧👦 Parent Tip:
Younger kids can help place dipped bread onto a baking sheet before you add it to the hot pan.
Step 4: Cook the French Toast
Place the slices into the pan, leaving space between them. Cook for 3–4 minutes, then flip.
Continue flipping every 2–3 minutes until both sides are golden brown. The eggnog caramelizes quickly, so gentle heat makes all the difference.

🍽️ Chef Tip:
Setting cooked slices on a cooling rack instead of a plate keeps them crisp.

Step 5: Repeat
Wipe or rinse out your pan between batches to prevent burnt butter. Keep your heat steady for even browning.
Pro Tips for Success
• Eggnog browns faster—stay at medium-low heat to avoid scorching
• Slightly stale bread holds up best to dipping
• Want extra flavor? Add a pinch of nutmeg or a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar right after cooking
• Serve with maple syrup, powdered sugar, or whipped cream for holiday fun
Make It Your Own
• Swap Texas toast for brioche or challah
• Add orange zest for a bright twist
• Try chocolate chips or berries on top
• Dust with powdered sugar “snow” for kids
Tips for Grown-Ups Assisting
• Let kids whisk and dip while you manage the stovetop
• Demonstrate safe flipping with the spatula and explain why we avoid crowding the pan
• Keep a cooling rack ready so kids can help move finished slices

FAQ from Chefs-In-Training
Why does eggnog make it brown faster?
Eggnog has sugar, which caramelizes quickly. That’s why low heat is best.
Can I use regular bread?
Yes, but thicker slices work better because they don’t get soggy.
Why do we flip more than once?
Because it helps get even color without burning the edges.
Do we have to use nutmeg?
Nope! It’s optional and just adds a little holiday spice.
