What You’ll Need
Equipment
- Air fryer
- Measuring cups and spoons
- Mixing bowls
- Small saucepan (for sauce)
- Tongs
- Parchment or air fryer liner (optional)
Ingredients:
For the Wings:
- 1.5-2 lbs chicken wings (drum/wing split)
- 1/3 cup flour
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp black pepper
- Olive Oil Spray

For the Sweet Chili Sauce:
- ½ cup sweet chili sauce
- 2 tbsp light brown sugar
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp rice wine vinegar
- 1 tsp sesame oil
Let’s Get Cooking!
1. Prep the Chicken
- Clean and pat the wings dry.
- Sprinkle them with salt and pepper.
- Lightly coat in flour, shaking off excess.
🍽️ Chef Tip: Flour helps make them extra crispy in the air fryer!
👩👧👦 Parent Tips: Let younger kids measure spices and help with tossing wings in flour using a bowl.
2. Preheat the Air Fryer
- Set your air fryer to 400°F. If using parchment, place it inside after preheating.
3. Cook the Wings
- Place wings in the basket (don’t overcrowd!).
- Spray with olive oil spray.
- Cook for 6 minutes, open the basket and spray again.
- Cook for 5 more minutes, flip, spray again, and finish cooking for 5–7 minutes until golden and crispy.
👩👧👦 Parent Tips: Assist with flipping and spraying. Air fryers get hot—help younger kids safely open the basket and handle tongs.
4. Make the Sauce
- While wings are cooking, combine all sauce ingredients in a small saucepan.
- Heat over medium-low, whisking for 3–4 minutes until warm and slightly thickened. Set aside.
👩👧👦 Parent Tips: Have kids help measure and whisk ingredients before heating. You handle the stove!
5. Glaze the Wings
- Once wings are crisp and cooked through, brush them with the sweet chili sauce.
🍽️ Chef Tip: Want stickier wings? Return them to the air fryer for 4 more minutes after glazing.
👩👧👦 Parent Tips: Let older kids help brush the glaze; it’s a fun, hands-on step!

Pro Tips for Success
- Make sure wings are fully dry before flouring—this helps them crisp up better.
- Work in batches if your air fryer basket is small.
- Add sesame seeds or chopped scallions for extra flavor and color!
Make It Your Own
- Boneless Option: Use boneless chicken tenders or thighs for easier eating.
- Mild Version: Use less sweet chili sauce or mix with ketchup to tone down the heat.
- Veggie Version: Try cauliflower florets in place of chicken for a vegetarian twist.
Tips for Grown-Ups Assisting
- Use a thermometer to ensure wings reach 165°F internally.
- Reheat leftovers in the air fryer to maintain crunch.
- Help manage the hot basket, sauce simmering, and any oil spray steps for safety.
